Lo Bueno: TTS 4.3" GPS at a very affordable price; quick reroute calculation.
Lo Malo: No official support for picture and video viewing as well as audio MP3 playing; a bit thick; lack of traffic information.
Resumen: Pharos PDR250 is a decent TTS GPS but it lacks the competitive features such as MP3 playing, video and picture viewing, bluetooth, and traffic information. However, it could be modified to add MP3, picture and video viewing since it is based on Win CE 4.2. The Pharos PDR250 which has also been shipped under the Omnitech brand, is more price competitive than any other 4.3" TTS GPS unit on the market at this time. Although the MCU is only 266MHz, its reroute calculation is fast and the unit is very responsive throughout the couple long trips I have taken. I wish that it could be thinner so that I could carry it around in my pocket.

Lo Bueno: Text to voice feature; nice 4.3inch screen; 20 channels
Lo Malo: slower compared to other brands
Resumen: Great to have Text to voice feature for the price paid. This GPS has 20 channels. I am now used to the nice 4.3inch big lcd screen. very clearly presents the routes and markings. signal acquisition is definitely better than some others I have used. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a decent GPS unit with a budget in mind.

Lo Bueno: Large LCD Screen (4.3"), Easy to Use, 20 GPS Channels
Lo Malo: none to date, but map updates are unknown
Resumen: Top of the line GPS at the price of many mid and entry level GPS. With 20 channels, it picks up the signal very fast. Voice to text works amazingly well. The LCD screen is the best I've ever used, 4.3" but still very compact. Pharos thought of every when making this GPS, and to date I very impressed. i highly recommend!!

Lo Bueno: Well made, bright very legible screen, many control options, includes a stylus and a nice case.
Lo Malo: Tinny and sometimes hard to understand "voice"
Resumen: Second unit I have owned and although I have only had it for two weeks, I really like it. The stylus is the answer to the "fat finger" mis-key problem. Acquires signals well.

Lo Bueno: 4.3 inch screen, sleek design
Lo Malo: No future map updates(which is true on any other brands though)
Resumen: I bought this GPS with rebate. So I feel that it's worth for it's price. It's work fine and it's sleek than I expected. I also like the "walking mode". It comes with the latest US Canada maps. But any future updates are not available for free. That's the only cons with this model. Here and there there is always a rebate available for this model. So if you decide to purchase pls search for the rebate first.

Lo Bueno: larger LCD (4.3); text-to-speech; quick recalculation; detailed information about surroundings; two modes: Driving or Walking.
Lo Malo: The voice of prompts is not clear when the volume of the speaker is at maximum; the acquisition of the GPS signal for the first time is sluggish.
Resumen: I used this GPS for over one week. The GPS did the job as I wanted when on the way. The large LCD provides more information nearby when you are on road. However, the voice of prompts is not very clear when it is at the maximum. And the response of the GPS sometimes is a little bit sluggish.

Lo Bueno: Large Screen, Accurate Directions
Lo Malo: No Auto On/Off, Long Start up time
Resumen: Overall I am pretty happy with this GPS. I have used a Garmin 350 and while the Pharos is not as slick it does have a nicer screen for a much lower price.

Lo Bueno: Value driven
Lo Malo: A bit slow to recalculate
Resumen: This is a simple, yet very functional GPS. It does not have high end functionality like real-time traffic updates but if you are not a daily, long distance driver, this will do the job very well.

Lo Bueno: 4.3" Screen Text to Speech feature
Lo Malo: None notice
Resumen: I bought this GPS for the Text to Speech feature. My husband enjoy this feature so much, he original has a TomTom One and they don't support this. So Far his is very happy with this and the 4.3" screen is definetely a plus.

Lo Bueno: Text to voice; auto dim; 4.3" screen; ability to enter directions beginning with state, then city - helps a lot when it comes to entering SR CR numbers; fast recalculation if turn is missed.
Lo Malo: Text for exits can be small and hard to read; inability to remove routes from directions
Resumen: This is my 5th GPS device over the years and I have to say that for the money, it's pretty good. It was a little sluggish the first time I turned it on but it never exhibited those symptoms again. As mentioned before, one the biggest problems I have had with GPSes is entering State and County Route #s as some GPSes want it 'SR-1', another may want the same thing as 'RT-1' and yet another would want it as 'ROUTE 1'. With the Pharos, you enter the state, then the city, then you put in the number '1' as the road and voila, all roads with the # 1 in them show up - thank you Pharos! The text to speech is clear and understandable and the roads are pronounced fairly well. The map is clear but the text for your next turn may be a little hard to read if the road has multiple names... Pharos will name them all! Most everything you need while driving is right there on the screen or is readily available if you touch an icon on the screen (you may need a small finger, though) - touch the information bar on the bottom and it can tell you your current speed, time or distance to your destination; touch the 'next turn' icon and it will verbally repeat the next turn information; touch the compass icon and it will give you different views of the map.One feature that I could not find (it may be in there but not readily available) was the ability to reroute due to traffic or avoid toll roads. With regard to the points of interest, the main one I was looking for (local post offices) was not there. All in all, I would recommend this GPS device to anybody who is looking for a GPS to get them there reliably with no extra bells or whistles that you may never use or that may actually make your driving unsafe.
