Lo Bueno: Fairly Easy To Use

Lo Malo: Battery Life, Locks Up Going Through Hills, Did I Mention Battery Life

Resumen: This thing is decent, but the battery life is HORRIBLE!!! Eats batteries like Kobayashi at a Hot Dog eating contest! It also locks up every single time I go through a small bunch of hills or small canyon. My Blackberry is more reliable when it comes to that. Not quite a good buy at $250..Maybe at $150..

Lo Bueno: Finds your position quickly.

Lo Malo: Miami local street maps are not up to date.

Resumen: Miami local street maps are not up to date roads have changed in the past five years and they are not recognized.I would like to see the availability of changing routes by shortest or adding a stop for one time.

Lo Bueno: price, ease of use

Lo Malo: not allow to add a note in the favorite list.

Resumen: I used to use my PDA in combination with a GPS receiver as my GPS system. The problem is that it is very cubersome to use. Now the TomTom One 3rd Edition GPS I got during Christmas time for $125 is one-piece unit. It is very light, portable and esy to use. There is no need to read the instruction. I use it whenever I go to a new place or on vacation. The only thing I hope TomTom would correct it is that should allow users to add titles to the favorite list and recent trips. I have trouble knowing the location I want when checking a list of all the recent trips. I also hope it would allow users to see the actual addresses in the POI. Overall, this is a great GPS that everyone should own one. Highly recommended.

Lo Bueno: Very simple to set up and use. Very fast recalculate route.

Lo Malo: No text-to-speech!!!

Resumen: Overall, I am very happy with my TomTom. Great value for price. It is my first nav system and I never realized how no text-to-speech sucks! If I could buy a new one now, I'd spend the extra bucks for a system that does. But all in all I'm happy with it.

Lo Bueno: Affordable price. Easy to use.

Lo Malo: No memory expansion slot. No TTS. No MP3 play function.

Resumen: I wish I had bought one a long time ago, but of course the price was finally "right". It is so much safer driving to an unfamiliar location. I'm not trying to look at a map while I'm driving. And if I'm not quite sure which turn to take, a quick look at the screen shows me exactly where to turn. I love it!

Lo Bueno: works right out of the box. Very easy to use.

Lo Malo: Not many. Would have liked to get text to speech (those units tell you the exact street to turn on), but for the money can't beat. Can't insert sd cards for different areas like europe.

Resumen: Best unit for the money. Only drawback is you can't insert sd cards for other areas like europe. Can only be used in united states and canada. Check other units that have the sd card if you intend to use in other countries.

Lo Bueno: Mapshare, POI, Maps, Price

Lo Malo: N.A

Resumen: Very impressed by this unit. It has great maps, clear voice instructions, MapShare, excellent maps and an extensive amount of POIs. It is very intuitive and easy to use. I really like the MapShare feature because its exclusive to TomTom. I am able to make edits or additions to the maps, and can also add my own POIs and then download all the information using TomTom Home in order to share it with others. I can also see the edits other TomTom users are making. Very interactive and very easy to use. It is definitely worth $150 and does more than other GPS units in the same price range.

Lo Bueno: Good turn-to-turn directions. Universal mini-USB interface for connecting to computer and charging.

Lo Malo: Slow updating speed.Not-so-updated map.

Resumen: This is the my first GPS and it does a good job telling you to prepare the turn ahead of time. It uses a mini-USB port to connect to your computer, and can use with any wall chargers that has a mini-USB interface. I download the updated map from TomTom right after purchasing my GPS. Downloading the map takes about 10 minutes. To my surprise, uploading the map to the GPS took a lot longer. The map around my home also isn't updated, which is disappointing as Google, Yahoo got it right at least 4 years ago.

Lo Bueno: It corrects itself quickly when you make a wrong turn

Lo Malo: It will tell you to turn left not turn left on a specific street

Resumen: I like this product alot. I will use it often. I can get rid of my street maps that were under the seat in the car. I like the fact that it also knows where to find services when I need them like an atm machine.

Lo Bueno: Easy to use, accurate, great value

Lo Malo: None

Resumen: This is a great GPS for a great value! It is easy to use and very reliable. I use it when driving day to day and for road trips! I would recommend this unit to everyone I know!

Lo Bueno: Great navigation and alternative routes. Good suction mount. Lots of options. Everything most people need.

Lo Malo: For the low cost, none. For more money would love to have a trip computer(Gas mileage, etc.) and SD slot, Bluetooth

Resumen: I read many of the reviews and was surprised, when I bought my Tomtom One third edition, to find that the bad reviews were mostly false. I can see the screen in the bright sun as long as I turn up the screen brightness. I did have a little trouble getting the Tomtom updated online (not that it really needed it, as it already has all the maps in the device). I think around the holidays everyone was going on the Tomtom website at the same time, so after a day or two I got on fine and have been updating ever since with no problems. The most important thing is how it navigates. It got me out of two jams on the interstate a few hours after I bought it (I had never used GPS before). The traffic stopped on the interstate and I hit "Find alternative" and then pushed "roadblock" and it routed me around the jams on back roads like a champ. When I got back to the freeway it was flowing smoothly with few cars as they were all stuck in the gridlock. It has rarely taken me on routes that were not the fastest routes. This device has made driving a pleasure again. Never having to worry about how to get somewhere. Most importantly-NEVER GETTING LOST! I also like the points of interest. I can look up restaurants for carryout(pizza) 40 minutes down my route and it gives me the number to call so I can pick it up on the way(sure beats fast food). Bottomline: if you never had a navigation system, buy one of these and you will not be disappointed.

Lo Bueno: Small compact unit, easy to install, easy to use, easy to update via computer

Lo Malo: Not enough support for all cell phone companies and cell phone models

Resumen: I took the time to study the Tom Tom carefully and became familiar with it's features. The only criticism I have is the lack of cell phone company (Verison) and cell phone model (LG 8600) that was a let down. Not all box details show this lack of compatibility. The voice prompts are remarkable, the accuracy is excellent even in rural areas. I would recommend this product for it's useability, price and product features.

Lo Bueno: portable, easy to use, good map and signal

Lo Malo: no text-to-speech, no memory expansion slot

Resumen: This is a very good GPS for a good price(about $130). It is easy to setup and use. Many alternatives are provided. The map is good for me so far. Only in some small area, it may give unclear instruction. The signal is pretty good. But it has no text-to-speech. Only turn by turn instructions are given. This is a big weakness compared to those expensive GPS. I would recommend it to those who use it as the first GPS or don't want to spend a lot on a GPS.

Lo Bueno: Ease of use

Lo Malo: Map updates

Resumen: Great product. Very simple to use right out of the box.I bought this as a gift for my husband who is technologically challenged. He had no problem operating it.The only issue is that we had street renaminging and renumbering in out town 1 1/2 years ago and the maps do not reflect this change. I went online and updated and the updates still do not reflect this change. Other than that, we are very pleased with the simplicity of operting the unit.

Lo Bueno: Voice prompts, bright clear screen, easy to use, touchscreen, map updates from other users

Lo Malo: not much..smaller screen compared with other (more expensive) units, no memory expansion slot

Resumen: This is a great device. Even my wife who is not tech minded found it easy to use. A short demonstration and she was up and running. It is straight forward to the extent that i didn't need to read the manual...i just clicked around the screen and browsed the options and selections. It is quite intuitive and easy to use. The voice instructions are great, so you don't have to divert your attention from the road while driving. When i used it i found to be very accurate. It gives plenty of advance notice for turns, exits, etc...first it will tell you eg right turn ahead as you near it...then it will tell you eg in 800 yards turn right, then it will give you a third instruction to eg turn right when you need to. The map is incredibly detailed compared to the older gps unit i had. My older one just had a line for a road..this one has two roadways for a divided street, and it even displays the u-turn openings in the divider. The route planning is very good, giving you options to use the fastest route, or the shortest one, and also verifies with you if you want to use toll roads if there are any on the planned route. If you miss a turn, it quickly recalculates your route and gives you new instructions to get you to your destination. Destination selection is very easy, and gives you several ways to select it: by specific address, by clicking on the map, by entering longitude/latitude coordinates, by selecting a point of interest, by recent destinations, or by a predefined favorites list which you can save. Also, if you click on Help me, it will give you the nearest locations for Police, Fire, Hospitals, Car repair, gas stations, etc etc. It will give you options to get you there on foot, or by driving, and will even give you the phone numbers for the locations so you can call them. What i loved is that it will also give you your location in a text display to read to the operator. eg if calling the police, it will tell you how to let them know your location eg two miles after exit 10 on I-95 at the intersection with so-and-so street, etc. I was impressed. It can also warn you when near certain points of interest via a selection of sounds. I set mine to warn me when near a school...school zone speed limit signs are easy to miss and end up with an expensive ticket (or worse), especially if you are driving in an unfamiliar area. Another nice feature is it allows you to upload your corrections and download map corrections from other users via TomTom servers. I found the maps pretty up to date, but they did miss a closed off road i know of, so i made the correction and uploaded it. Things such as these will ensure your maps are as up to date as possible. Another feature is the integration of traffic data, to help you avoid traffic jams. However, the equipment to receive it is expensive (almost the same price as the gps unit itself) and there is a monthly fee. Only drawback i came across is that the battery charges via USB cable only (or car adapter, both included). Thus you cant just plug it into an adapter block to charge it. You have to use your computer (and leave it on) or use a powered USB hub if you want to shut down your computer. Also it does not have a slot for memory expansion card (SD etc). But with the 1GB onboard, i find it enough to save all the map data and updates i need. You can even use some of the space for data storage, like a USB memory stick Also the screen is smaller than other units, but those come with a higher price tag as well. This is really not a big deal, as you shouldn't be looking at it when driving anyway...that's what the voice instructions are for. Other units come with extra functions, such as MP3 player, movie player, bluetooth etc...but at 2-4 times the price tag. This unit is a very well priced, no-frills pure GPS unit that does the job very well, and i have recommended it to many people
